Gas Lines Done Right
Gas piping is not a DIY project. Not even close. A bad connection or undersized pipe can cause leaks, poor appliance performance, or worse. In Massachusetts, gas piping work requires a licensed plumber and a permit from the local gas inspector. We handle both.
Dracut Plumbing and Heating has been running gas lines in the Merrimack Valley for over 30 years. We know the codes, we know the inspectors, and we know how to size and route a gas line so your appliance gets the BTU supply it needs.
Common Gas Piping Projects
Outdoor Gas Grills
No more swapping propane tanks mid-cookout. A dedicated natural gas line to your grill means unlimited fuel at a fraction of the cost of propane. We run the line from your meter to wherever your grill sits, with a quick-disconnect fitting so you can still move the grill for cleaning.
Fire Pits and Outdoor Fireplaces
A gas fire pit is a great addition to any patio. Clean flame, no ash, no smoke. We install the gas line and connect it to your burner setup. Just flip a switch and you're set.
Standby Generators
A whole-house generator needs a properly sized gas line from your meter. If the line is too small, the generator won't produce full power when you need it most. We coordinate with your electrician to make sure everything is right.
Dryers and Ranges
Switching from electric to gas for your dryer or range? We'll run the line and install the shutoff valve. Gas dryers cost less to operate and dry clothes faster. Gas ranges give you better temperature control for cooking.
Pool and Spa Heaters
A gas pool heater can extend your swimming season by weeks. We run the gas supply line and make sure it's sized for the heater's BTU rating.
Safety and Permits
Every gas piping job we do is permitted and inspected by the local gas inspector. This is not optional and it is not something to cut corners on. The permit process protects you. It means a third party verifies that the work was done to code.
We pressure-test every new gas line before connecting any appliances. If there's even a tiny leak, we find it and fix it before anything gets turned on. We also check that your existing gas meter and service line can handle the added load. If your meter needs an upgrade, we'll coordinate with the gas company.
Why Hire a Licensed Plumber for Gas Work
Massachusetts law requires a licensed plumber for gas piping. Handymen and general contractors cannot legally do this work. Your homeowner's insurance may not cover damage from gas work done by an unlicensed person. And for good reason. Gas leaks are serious business.
